To explore the world of Final Fantasy XIV, you have to travel huge distances, and to do it faster and more efficiently, you should get a mount. There are dozens of unique mounts in the game, and in the patch 6.25, perhaps the cutest of them, named Silkie Mount, was added to the game. Silkie Mount looks like a cute hamster with small black eyes, soft fur, and a big pom-pom on its tail. This Mount would be a welcome addition to any player’s collection, and our guide is here to help guide you on how to get the Silkie Mount in Final Fantasy XIV.

How to Get the Silkie Mount in Final Fantasy XIV

To get the Silkie Mount in Final Fantasy XIV, you must complete the Dig Deep: The Sil’dihn Subterrane achievement and obtain the Silkie Whistle item. Thanks to this item, you can summon Silkie Mount, but it is relatively hard to get it. To do this, you must unlock and complete all Sil’dihn Subterrane dungeon variants, and there are three in total: a variant, a criterion dungeon, and a savage criterion dungeon.

In addition, you must explore every passage and corner of the dungeon to inspect it 100%. You will probably have to complete the dungeon many times, and it is best to do this with friends. This way, you can focus on exploring the map and worry less about enemies. Plus, after you’ve completed Sil’dihn Subterrane a few times, you’ll be able to get a cute Sponge Silkie Minion.

But before you can get Silkie Mount, you have to unlock the dungeon, and here’s how to do it:

  • Complete Main Scenario Quest in Endwalker.
  • Next, travel to Old Sharlayan at coordinates X: 11.9 and Y: 13.3.
  • Here you will meet the NPC Osmon and talk with him.
  • After that, the NPC Shallow Moor will appear and give you the quest A Key to the Past.
  • During this quest, you will complete Sil’dihn Subterrane for the first time and unlock the dungeon permanently.
  • To unlock the rest of the Sil’dihn Subterrane variants, you need to talk to these NPCs a few more times.

Then you only need to spend a couple of hours to complete the dungeon several times. And once you’ve explored the Sil’dihn Subterrane, you’ll get the achievement Dig Deep: The Sil’dihn Subterrane. In addition, you will receive a Silkie Whistle, and you can summon a Silkie Mount.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
