Demon summoning, sword stabbing goodness...
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information.

Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei is a crossover that nobody knew they wanted until it was announced. Fire Emblem is a turn based strategy series. Shin Megami Tensei is a JRPG franchise about demon summoning teenagers in post-apocalyptic worlds. Apparently elated by the world not ending in 2012, Nintendo celebrated 2013 by deciding to mix both series together and see what happened.

Gamers around the world squealed in anticipation at the announcement. Then they sighed in frustration when they heard nothing else for two years.

But now, the Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei news drought is over. While the big N still hasn’t released any hard details, they have given us this;

We know that Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei will be an RPG. Based on the trailer, it looks to be borrowing quite heavily from the Megami Tensei side. Anything beyond that is pure speculation right now but there is something else to keep in mind.

Forbes is reporting that Shinjiro Takata (of Devil Survivor fame) is  the Producer leading the development team. Given how superb Devil Survivor was, this can only be a good thing.

We can only hope that Nintendo decides to crossover more of their franchises. Legend of Zelda/Metroid crossover anyone?

I’d buy it.
