A fired TV news anchor in Detroit, Michigan, is caught in a “profanity-laced” outburst on camera in an explosive video. It has reached over 1.4 million views, over 116,000 likes, and over 1,400 comments. The video surfaced suddenly after anchor Taryn Asher decided to sue the Fox station. The reasons she gives for the lawsuit include retaliation and sex discrimination.
However, after the video’s release, Fox argues her firing was due to “unprofessional workplace behavior.” These include incidents from last year where she allegedly used profanity when speaking to co-workers, yelled at employees, and had “confrontational and disrespectful interactions with other staffers.” In the released video, the Michigan anchor can be seen in a heated exchange with someone off-camera.
As the person explains they were attempting to work on the scripts, Asher insists, “I can’t wait for you to go through them all.” The situation escalates between the Michigan news anchor and her co-worker, who asks Asher to let her finish what she was saying. The co-worker’s next statements are inaudible, but Asher states, “You’re walking out really angry.” From there, she has an outburst of profanity. This outburst includes her mimicking her co-worker and adding, “What the [expletive]?” Additionally, she complains, “I’m so done with her antics, telling on me every five seconds.”
Several Take Michigan News Anchor’s Side
The video’s timing has several people in the comments suspecting retaliation. This has many siding with Asher. One person says, “Smells like retaliation.” Another agrees, “They tried to make her look bad, but we’re on her side!” A third comment reads, “Clearly there’s more than one person against her.”
Meanwhile, others say workplace frustrations aren’t out of the ordinary, and they don’t feel she did anything wrong. One commenter states, “She’s human…. we’ve all been here… So don’t judge.” However, some feel she’s expressing what they all wish they could. One person says, “Girl in purple a vibe ngl.” Another agrees, “I approve of this type of boundary setting.“
Asher has yet to respond to the video, and there are currently no updates about whether it will impact her lawsuit.
