FKA Twigs‘ “Childlike Things” music video is finally here. On Thursday, March 27, the English singer dropped the official visual for her Eusexua track on YouTube. Fans haven’t been able to stop praising FKA Twigs’ acting, choreography, and overall artistry since its release. They love the direction she took for her music video. However, they’re not exactly thrilled about one detail: North West‘s cameo.
FKA Twigs and North West Collaborate on “Childlike Things’
FKA Twigs’ “Childlike Things’ music video revolves around her trying to impress a music executive played by actor, producer, and director Kevin Smith. To do so, she enlists help from 13-year-old rapper North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
During the clip, FKA Twigs hypes up the teenager by introducing her as a “storial goddess,” “raspy voice troublemaker,” and “rapper extraordinaire.” When she appears, FKA Twigs and North West perform their Eusexua song together in matching white fur coats and goggles.
The pair originally collaborated in January to release “Childlike Things” as part of FKA Twigs’ third studio album. At the time, some fans criticized their team-up over it feeling inauthentic. They claimed FKA Twigs only worked with North because of her parents’ fame. Since Kanye West is one of today’s biggest rappers, rumors spread that he must have pulled some strings to have his daughter featured on the song. Now, they’re saying the same thing about FKA Twigs and North teaming up for the “Childlike Things” music video.
One person claimed that North West’s cameo was an example of “nepo babying to the max.” Meanwhile, someone criticized her feature by calling the collaboration “worse than kids bop.” Another person agreed, labeling the song “a mess.” Several fans even accused Kanye West of trying to “force” his daughter’s fame by seemingly helping her get the collaboration so early in her career instead of letting it happen naturally as she gets older and more experienced.
Kim Kardashian Won’t Stand For People Hating On Her Daughter
The music video controversy comes after North raised eyebrows by booking several huge projects recently. Apart from the FKA Twigs song, the teenager was featured on ¥$’s Vultures 1 and Vultures 2 albums last year. In 2023, she also made her voice acting debut in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. All of these projects came with backlash. However, the biggest criticism came when North performed in a production of The Lion King last May.
After clips of her performance surfaced online, many felt the role should have been given to another kid with more experience. Although they felt her acting and singing was good enough for a school play, they claimed her skills weren’t up to par with an official production.
Following the criticism, Kim Kardashian defended her daughter by telling haters, “North is the moment,” explaining that her roles are a result of people wanting to see her. She teased that even bigger things would be coming for the young rapper. By the looks of things, she’s right, as North continues to take over Hollywood with her music and acting projects.
