A Florida family is at the center of a viral video showing children crying after their parents were allegedly taken into custody by ICE agents. According to a video making the rounds on the Internet, the family had just left church when the incident occurred.
According to the caption on @LongTimeHistory, ICE agents stopped the family in West Palm Beach, Florida, while they were driving home from Sunday Mass. The family was reportedly on their way to buy new school shoes for the children when they were stopped.
The post said that both parents were taken into custody. Their oldest daughter, an 18-year-old U.S. citizen who was driving the car, was not detained. She was left to take care of her younger siblings.
The video of the incident was originally shared on TikTok by the account @seguime1million3. The footage shows the family standing outside their vehicle near a red car, with several agents in tactical gear, caps, and sunglasses nearby.
The father, who was wearing a dark blue shirt, is shown hugging his children for an extended period. He appears to be crying as he embraces them, including a young boy. The parents are then separated from the children.
Notably, text added to the original post includes phrases such as “ICE detains a family” and “ICE tears family apart.”
Neither the family’s immigration status nor the specific reason for the stop has been publicly confirmed, and ICE has not released a statement on the incident.
Internet Reacts to Florida Family’s ICE Detention
The video prompted a wave of reactions online, with many commenters condemning the detention. One commenter wrote, “*Expletive* disgusting. It’s a disgrace. We are THE terrorist country of the world.” Another expressed a similar sentiment, saying, “The trauma and psychological damage this does to young minds will truly impair future generations. No child should have to face terror like this.”
Some commenters framed the incident as intentional cruelty. One wrote, “See the cruelty in this? That’s the point.
