Florida is known for many things: its alligators invading public spaces, people trying to create wacky inventions, HOA Karens, and so on. However, they are mostly good drivers. I say mostly because a recent video shows that drivers in Florida are reaching Ohio levels, which isn’t great. Apparently, merging lanes correctly is a difficult task now, especially for people in the city of Destin. Even if this situation I’m talking about didn’t lead to any accidents, it is still worrying to see people like this behind the wheel.
Crazy_Doodlebop shared the video on the IdiotsInCars Reddit community, but quickly found its way to the Florida subreddit, as someone noticed the driver was from Destin. In the above clip, you can observe dashcam footage of a transmuter minding their own business in the far left lane. However, a black SUV starts dangerously merging all the way from the far right lane. According to the OP, they were honking the horn at that time, and we believe it. If you look closely, the person in the SUV didn’t bother to look to their right before merging. Furthermore, they did it from not one lane but two, and at a high speed at that, which is a vehicular hazard.
Fortunately, the video has a somewhat nice ending, as none of the drivers got into a collision. Still, you can see that the person in the black SUV had zero regard for the other drivers on the road, and it just shows that they are a hazard to other drivers.
As expected, people had some heated comments for this careless driver.
“They made two illegal lane shifts at that. First one before the intersection is over a solid line.” – betnobodyhasthisname via Reddit.
“Clear case of not checking his blind spot. Why are so many people too lazy to turn their heads?” – pocketdare via Reddit.
So far, we thought Ohio had the worst drivers, but if this is an example of how things are in Florida, then Ohio has some competition now. Yet, in all seriousness, it is bad that people like this are behind the wheel. While everyone was lucky enough not to be part of a collision, not everyone can say the same. Sometimes, all it takes is one careless driver to ruin someone else’s day and vehicle.
