An influencer based in Florida listed a couple of chairs on Facebook Marketplace for free. While she thought the process of finding a new home for them would be swift, the reality is that she was bombarded with questions she found annoying. She has now vowed never to use the platform ever again.
The influencer in question is Tasia Alexis, who has a TikTok following of more than 4.2 million. Her Facebook Marketplace experience quickly took off, garnering close to 2 million views, 364,000 likes, and almost 5,000 comments. From the get-go, she made herself clear, saying, “I am never using Facebook Marketplace again.”
The Florida woman detailed in the video that she had posted a couple of egg chairs on Facebook Marketplace. They were listed as free items, and she explained how one of the chairs had one cushion while the other had none.
“That is how I presented them on the Facebook Marketplace. Free. Used but good,” Tasia added.
However, she revealed in the clip that she was subsequently bombarded with what she labeled “common sense questions.” These included “Where is the other cushion?” despite the fact that she specifically detailed that there was, in fact, no extra cushion.
Then, the Florida woman said that other users interested in her egg chairs started making demands. According to her, they were asking Tasia to buy an extra cushion for the chair. Then, and only then, they would pick both chairs up.
Blocking People, Reactions, Chairs Get New Home
Frustrated with the messages, Tasia began blocking people. Not only that, but she started applying a “question tax” of sorts, making the chair cost an extra $5 for every question that was asked per user.
Finally, Tasia got a request from someone genuinely interested in the chairs, who asked her ot hold them for her, she said in the clip. The Florida woman agreed, but hours went by, and she got no response. Eventually, she messaged the interested party, who then said, “I don’t want them anymore. My husband doesn’t like them.”
Fueled by her facial expressions, Tasia’s clip sparked multiple reactions. Some users shared their views about the platform, with one user commenting, “Usually FB Marketplace is some people’s first day on Earth.” Others shared Tasia’s frustration, given that she was offering a free item, with one viewer saying, “If it’s FREE, please do not ask me one single question, goodbye.”
Meanwhile, other viewers sarcastically asked, “Are they still available?” Finally, some even shared their own FB Marketplace stories. One shared, “I posted free diapers, and someone asked me to bring them to their house. Never again.“
Seeing as many users were as frustrated as Tasia, possibly due to past experiences using the platform, it is no wonder that the clip went viral. The relatability, in turn, sparked many anecdotes in the comment section, sparking an endless retelling of online sale misadventures.
Thankfully, a woman named Deborah, without asking any questions, drove to the Florida woman’s home and got the chairs.
