What makes a Floridian a true Floridian, you ask? It is debatable for some. However, some agree that one key element is the ability to enjoy the games of the Florida Panthers, or rather, the fights that occur in them. A recent interview with children shows that they are really interested in these matches, but only if there’s some action in them. And after people saw the kids’ reactions, many agree that these younglings are on their way to becoming true Floridians.
Redditor s1n0d3utscht3k shared a clip from Channel 10 in which Clay Ferraro, a reporter, interviewed a kid before a Florida Panthers game. Ferraro asked, “What is your favorite part of Panthers games?” The kid responded, “The fighting.” The reporter then asked, “What do you think about the fighting in the third period?” The child replied, “It was really good, and I really liked how they punched each other.” Ferraro also asked the kid if she felt the Panthers had won the fight in addition to the game, to which the girl said yes.
As you can see, this is hilarious in many ways. While hockey is definitely a high-contact sport where many fights are likely to occur, it’s amusing to see how kids react to those events. Yet, it is even more fun how other Floridians responded to the matter.

In case you missed it, the infamous fight took place during the last Panthers vs. Oilers game. Additionally, it wasn’t a minor altercation. It was a full-on brawl involving more than 10 players. At least five players received ejections, yet it didn’t stop the match from ending. The Panthers won with an overwhelming victory of 6-1.
Jake Walman, an Oilers player and one of the instigators, also received a $5,000 fine after spraying his water bottle at the Panthers’ bench. While many found the fight hilarious, it was a show of unsportsmanlike behaviour, and one that won’t go unpunished.
