Florida resident Thomas Carpenter risked his kid’s well-being for drugs and seems to feel no remorse. The 41-year-old man who just got out of prison last December was again arrested on March 18 after he was pulled over for a traffic violation. However, it was discovered that he wasn’t only breaking traffic laws.
When officers stopped Carpenter, three other occupants were in the car. A female passenger and his two kids were at the back. According to a statement from the deputies, when they addressed him, he was drifting in and out of sleep.
Upon questioning, Carpenter revealed to the officers that he and the lady passenger smoked marijuana in the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that neither of them had a medical marijuana card on them at the time of the incident.
On searching the car, officers found a bag containing drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and methamphetamine. The Florida resident was then arrested and taken to Putnam County Jail, where he was further searched. 11 small tied sandwich bags filled with a crystal-like substance were discovered in front of his underwear.
The substance in the bag weighed about 322.1 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine. Per reports from Fox 13 News, Carpenter was slapped with several charges and faces a long time behind bars. They include one count of amphetamine trafficking and a count for possession of marijuana with intent to sell; two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, smuggling contraband into a county detention facility; and three counts of drug paraphernalia.
In a Facebook post by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, it was revealed that during his arrest, Carpenter told deputies, “There’s nothing wrong with drugs.” As seen in the mugshot, the Florida native’s face was covered in tattoos, even down to his neck.
As expected, the news of the arrest sparked reactions from Internet users. One user referenced the ex-convict’s appearance, writing, “Well, he looks highly employable.
Another person mocked the situation, penning, “God forbid a man has hobbies.” A third netizen added, “Terrible. Really must be a miserable human.”
More comments criticizing the detainee for his looks filled the comment section. A fourth person wrote, “The aliens left one of their species behind,” and a fifth person added, “Those tattoos are the reason, he can’t have a normal job.”
This netizen suggested the ex-convict had voted for Trump. “You know who he voted for, MAGA MORONS.”
A copy of the report of the incident was sent to the Department of Children and Families while the female passenger was released.
