The new president is in office, and he isn’t wasting any time putting his stamp on our government and how it’s run. ICE, a department built to deport legal immigrants, which has had its own share of controversies, has been told to ramp up, and in the process, one Florida man who voted for Trump is possibly regretting his decision.
A man from southern Flordia who didn’t want to be named spoke to reporters and spoke about the ICE raid that removed two men and his wife from their home. She was an immigrant from Venezuela, and he had some things to say to CBS News Miami.
“It’s despicable what they’re doing right now.”
“It’s very embarrassing.”
“They just came and they snatched her.”
He claimed that she was in the middle of earning her U.S. citizenship, and he was hoping to reach Trump and beg for her to come back home. Which, of course, likely won’t happen. Trump was hosting Republican leaders at a separate golf event, and on Sunday alone, ICE’s pressure to deport more immigrants was ramping up significantly.
Folks on X didn’t take too kindly to the man in question, Democrat or Republican.
“More liberal horse s***.”
“Genuinely don’t understand how people didn’t realize what they voted for.”
“But Donnie told y’all what he was gonna do on DAY 1! So .. get a new boo. You be aight.”
I’m going to file this one under the classic play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Trump clearly stated that separation was a huge goal of his and one of the easiest to implement. Elections have consequences, which, hopefully, this Miami man now fully understands.
