Jacquelyn took to her TikTok channel with what she thought was an exciting update. The Florida mom labelled the post, “what you guys have been asking for.” The video featured her in a ruffly pink dress and sparkly Micky Mouse ears, introducing the makeover elements with excitement.
According to Jacquelyn, this is the room of her daughter’s dreams as she loves everything princess-related. The voiceover throughout labels the action a labor of love with “two cans of glitter” in the paint. Makes a point to mention the mirror that changes colors. Even shows off a carriage bed shaped like a pumpkin. The Florida influencer makes a point to mention the finishing touches, such as a rack for her princess dresses and her daughter’s favorite pictures of herself.
Not The Praise The Florida Mom Hoped For
Though the video presents this as a loving gesture from a mother to her daughter, the response hasn’t been entirely positive. The comments under the video posted by the Florida influencer supported the room. One even called it “so adorable.” However, a Reddit thread shared the video, calling it exploitive. Even referred to the influencer as a “neglecting mother twirling [and] pretending to be a Disney princess.”
The comments that followed ranged from mild disbelief to infuriating agreement. Some agreed that the Florida mom “definitely did that for herself” and was “living out some childhood fantasy.” Many have pointed out issues with how she twirled around the room, as if she were the child it was for.
The more comments that post, the more the Florida mom has come under fire for what many are arguing is selfish and exploitive behavior.
