Serving in the military no longer appears to be viewed as a noble profession under Trump’s administration, as a mother in Florida made a bold decision on behalf of her son, declaring that he would not be joining the military.

In a video posted on TikTok, the mom recounted receiving a call from a sergeant who was attempting to recruit her son. “We just kind of wanna talk to kids who are getting close to graduating,” she said, quoting the sergeant, before explaining that she cut the conversation short. “I said I can appreciate that you are doing your job. I said, ‘But I already told my son, he will not be signing any paperwork under this administration, he is not going to be serving for anything under this administration, period,” she said.

The sergeant, unwilling to accept her refusal, noted that she was the second parent to reject recruitment for their child and asked for her reason. The mom cited several concerns, saying, “He’s a convicted felon and the Epstein files,” referring to Trump, among other issues she associated with the administration. She went on to explain that she has a military background and respects the role the sergeant was performing.

However, she remained firm in her stance, stating that her son would not serve under the current administration, even if that decision resulted in consequences for her. The video quickly sparked widespread discussion online, with many people expressing strong support for the mother’s decision.

“I would have asked her ‘has Barron Trump signed up?’” one user commented. Another parent shared a similar experience, writing, “They tried that with my son, and I said, ‘Stop calling; it’s not happening,’” while someone else added, “They called asking my daughter, and I told them absolutely not while the 34-time felon and his administration was in charge.”

One user echoed the sentiment strongly, writing, “Yeah, same. I’m not sacrificing my kids for this disgusting admin. Have the maggots and their spawns enlist, see how that goes.” Another suggested the timing was intentional, claiming, “They know it’s going to be war soon, and they need fresh meat soldiers to be in front to protect some other soldiers with more training from being killed first.”

Praise for the mother followed shortly after, with one user writing, “She’s a good mom👏👏👏. Let MAGA fight their own wars. They voted for this.” Another commenter added, “They really want to send your son to fight a banker’s war. the nerve and audacity.” Another celebrated her stance: “Well done, all the mommas, your children joined up to protect their country, not to invade another to stroke the ego of a maniac.”

However, not everyone agreed with her approach, and critics were equally vocal. “It’s remarkable the women trying to assert dominance in their ADULT children’s lives. Out of control narcissism,” one person argued. Another saw military service as an opportunity, stating, “The best thing for her son to do is enlist and get away from that. It’s an honor for someone to serve. Move away, kid. Mommy’s off her rocker.”

Someone else challenged the outrage altogether: “Yes, that’s what military recruiters do. It’s their jobs, and they’ve done it for 50 years; it’s nothing new. A polite, no thank you is all that’s needed. Spare the outrage. Nobody is coming for your kids.” One user extended their frustration beyond this situation, writing, “It’s these kinds of overbearing moms that drive men to hate women! What kind of mom tells her adult son, ‘You aren’t going to choose this career path!’?!”
