TikTok, as well as many other social media apps, allows its users to have direct access to countless videos from around the internet. From public freak-outs to ghost stories, the app seemingly has it all, and yes, that even includes some pretty wild body cam footage. In a clip posted to TikTok, viewers can see a Florida cop needlessly harassing a man, just for pumping his gas. The video has over 21 million views and 1 million likes, as it has officially reached viral status.
The TikTok begins with the body cam footage of the Florida police officer. The cop can be seen walking up to a gas station and shouting at a man pumping his gas. “What do you have in your hand?” the officer can be heard barking at the man. Before the man even has time to answer, the officer has already drawn his weapon. The man pumping his gas then immediately puts his hands in the air and stops what he is doing. This had the TikTok’s comment section up in arms as well. “The cop immediately begins escalating the situation,” wrote one.
Florida Cop Harasses Innocent Man
As the altercation progresses, the cop also yells at the man’s passenger to “Stay in the car,” despite them showing no interest in getting out. The cop then yells at the man at the gas pump to turn around and put his hands behind his back. The man then complies with the lawful order as the cop walks to him for answers. “What are you doing?” the officer asks the man. He then explains that he was just trying to fill his car up with gas. However, the cop states that from the road, it looked like he was holding a “Pistol.”
The Florida police officer then states that it did not look like a gas pump from the road, despite the man literally being at a gas station. The man then gave the officer his ID and asked if he could turn around. The cop allows the man to turn around, and their slightly heated decision continues. After the man gave the officer a piece of his mind, he would tell him that “You saw what you wanted to see.”
Unfortunately, the TikTok then cuts off, and it is unclear what transpired in the following moments. However, encounters like this have seemingly become more and more common over the years. Hopefully, this Florida police officer has learned a very valuable lesson from this. As for the man trying to pump his gas, he’s lucky things didn’t go south, as they seem to do from time to time.
