The shooting of Charlie Kirk has caused a ripple effect throughout America. Human nature means everyone has an opinion, and it’s often difficult to separate politics from a tragedy. While many people are picking sides, they’re also paying for their choices with their jobs. Many have been fired for sharing opinions, and one Florida TikToker, Alex Mae, shared her own feelings about it.

“For everyone who’s losing their jobs right now for making fun of Charlie Kirk, you deserve it,” she says in a recent video. “I don’t feel bad for you.” The video, which reads, “Don’t throw a fit now evil scum,” has nearly 60k views. In the comments, viewers were quick to sound off about their own feelings.
“So Charlie Kirk can have an opinion, but as soon as someone else has an opinion that doesn’t line up with your narrative, you try to get them fired? Got it,” one user commented. “He was a racist podcaster. End of story,” another said.
Some viewers agreed with the sentiment, adding their own reasons for not engaging. One user posted a photo, reading, “If you believe people should be shot for their opinions, don’t cry when you get fired for yours.” Some even echoed this, saying, “And for teachers, and any healthcare professional or lawyer, should have their licenses suspended and never be able to get a job like that. It’s terrible.”
Even still, some discredited the video altogether, leaving more incredulous comments. “I’ve not heard of anyone who has lost their jobs,” one user said. Although rare, some also argued to see the humanity in all of it. “Regardless of political or religious belief, he was a man, he was a human,” one user said. “He was a father. He was a husband. He did not deserve to go like that. His family did not deserve to see that.”
