Who doesn’t love a fresh glass of lemonade at a children’s lemonade stand? It’s practically one of the most telling signs that summer is on its way here. Unfortunately, supporting a lemonade stand didn’t go exactly as one Florida woman expected. When she went to pay, she was met with vitriol she never expected from a child.
TikToker @noshadydays posted an interaction she had with a group of children when she was trying to purchase from their lemonade stand. She noticed the kids across the street from her Florida home set up a stand to make some money. She has a rule that she always “buys a cup” from any lemonade stand she passes. Even if she doesn’t drink it, she sees it as rewarding children who may want to become entrepreneurs.
This TikToker approached the stand with $2 in hand, thinking it would be plenty of money. She ordered a cup of lemonade and they told her it would be an astounding $3.50! She was blown away by the price but didn’t say anything to them about it. Unfortunately, she didn’t have enough money on her so she told the children she would run back to her house to get the remaining money for them.
As she was getting ready to run back to her house, the younger sister of one of the children turned to her. She was about four years old, according to this TikToker. She told her, “I mean, if you’re broke, just say that.”
Now, commenters were blown away by a small child saying something like that to an adult. They flocked to her video to share their opinions on the matter. One commenter stated, “Nope. That attitude is learned and not rewarded.” Another commenter replied to this, “She would never know to say that unless she heard it elsewhere, to an adult, too. Wow!”
Others shared that they think the children were selling the lemonade for way too much money. One commenter stated, “I’m not paying more than 50 cents.” Another commenter quipped, “If they don’t have a Square swipe setup they’re unprepared for modern refreshment industry.”
Commenters continue to share reactions about the cost of the stand’s lemonade and what the child said to her. One commenter prompted, “I would have said, ‘You’re right, I won’t be buying anything now.”
