For the King, the critically acclaimed turn-based roguelike tabletop RPG for you and up to two other players, will be getting a sequel in the form of For the King 2 on PC next year! The sequel will expand upon many of the elements players loved from the previous installment, alongside much new content to enjoy. You can check out the first trailer for the new game below.
How Will For the King 2 Differ From the Original?
The sequel to For the King blasts right out of the gate with a move from three players to four, expanding your party further and allowing for more to join in on the action. If you felt before that your party was forced to take a deficit from not having a certain niche filled, that problem should at least be partially handled with the fourth player. This is all with the beloved customization you’ve come to love, letting each run feel different with a new and unique set of heroes to choose from.
Outside of the move to four players though, For the King 2 seeks to update many other sections of the game. From a familiar yet fresh art style, plenty of new biomes to both live and die through, and a refreshed original soundtrack, there’s plenty to gain in the newest installment. All of this, while working with or against your friends. Or, as the press release aptly puts it:
Will you choose to fight side-by-side with your friends or split up to claim all the loot for yourself to boost your unique abilities, tactical advantages, and powerful synergies? The more you play, the more you permanently unlock items for your characters.”
In the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are you excited about For the King 2 and all it promises? What do you hope to see changed for the sequel compared to the original? Let me know!
