Former North Carolina Congressman Arrested in Florida After Failing to Appear in Court, ‘He Crashed Into a Trooper and Failed to Move Over’

That’s a little ironic

If you don’t already know who Madison Cawthorn is, then you have likely not been following the downfall of the Republican Party since Donald Trump was first inaugurated. The North Carolina wheelchair-bound congressman is a staunch supporter of the President, having made remarks that do not line up with real events or situations. Unfortunately, his past of deceit, fraud, and lies finally caught up with him as he was arrested in Jacksonville, Florida, for both failing to appear in court and for not having a driver’s license.

Madison Cawthorn’s political career is really nothing to sneeze at, having worked as a staffer for US Representative Mark Meadows before succeeding him in 2013. He was the very first member of Congress to have been born in the 1990s. After that, his tenure was marked by various rumors, including improper payments, insider trading, and more. Unfortunately, it appears that these acts finally caught up to Cawthorn, and he was not reelected for the position in 2022.

Since then, the former Congressman has been heading toward a downward spiral, having been caught by the law on several occasions already. Last month, police in Naples, Florida, cited him for driving without a license. The year before, he was cited again for having “crashed into a state trooper and failed to move over.” It is unclear if he was under the influence or intoxicated while being cited for these events. What’s incredibly interesting about these citations is that he is partially paralyzed from the waist down due to a horrific car accident in 2014.

These driving citations are only a few of many, as he has also been cited in 2017 for driving while having a revoked license and then again in 2022 for the exact same reason. It is for these reasons that he moved to Florida, though now his failure to attend court has only expedited his charges. Hopefully, he will receive a complete driving suspension, prohibiting him from owning a vehicle to avoid accidentally harming others while on the road.
