Update 1.12 for Forspoken has arrived, and here are all the changes and improvements mentioned in the patch notes. The update brings quite a lot of changes to the game. The feature updates include some adjustments and improvements to the visual effects when using Frey’s abilities, swap out some controls, and making accessing new places possible such as Pilgrim’s Refuges and the Archives. Other changes include, but are not limited to, some new Dualsense touchpad features, support for Intel GPUs, and some minor bug fixes. Here is the complete list of patch notes for update 1.12 for Forspoken:

Feature Updates

  • Adjusted the visual effects for Frey’s Shot spell.
  • Changed the default Sprint button from “L3” to “L3 or 〇”.
*Existing save files will not be affected.
  • Frey can now run in certain locations, such as Pilgrim’s Refuges, the Archives, and the Mausoleum.
*Running will remain disabled during certain event scenes.

Miscellaneous

  • The touchpad controls for DualSense™ Wireless Controller (PlayStation®5) can now be used when the controller is paired by Bluetooth.
  • *Certain DualSense™ Wireless Controller features, such as the intergraded speaker or haptic feedbacks cannot be used by Bluetooth pairing.
  • Updated the Intel XeSS version to 1.1.0 which can be used for Intel ARC and Iris Xe.
*The driver must be updated to 31.0.101.4148 or a later version.

Technical Issues

  • Various minor fixes.

The launch of Forspoken was less than ideal, to say the least, the game bombed at launch even with the hype train prior to release. Not only was Forspoken riddled with bugs, but the overworld itself was bland and uninspired. Enemy variety was sorely lacking, and the narrative left a lot to be desired, especially for anyone who managed to get through it.

But that may change soon, as Square Enix announced that Forspoken will be getting a prequel DLC, which may or may not fix some of the problems with the game.

Update 1.12 for Forspoken is available on PlayStation 5 and PC only via Steam. For more information on future updates and patch notes, head over to the official Forspoken Steam page here.
