Well, guys, it seems Disney+ isn’t just a place for family-friendly content anymore. Today, the semi-crass movie Free Guy (featuring everyone’s favorite sass master Ryan Reynolds) graces the Disney+ ranks. Produced by 20th Century Studios, the highly popular blockbuster kept the usual Ryan Reynolds spice alive in a new form. It focuses on the life of an NPC in a game called Free City. The movie is a gamer’s paradise, with references and jokes about open-world games all over the place. Until recently, it had a home on Amazon Prime Video. It seems that with the Fox merger in full swing, more and more films will be making the switch.
If You’re Free, Check Out This Guy in Action
Free Guy is a truly unique movie, as are many that Ryan Reynolds is directly involved in. As explained, Reynolds is an NPC in a Grand Theft Auto Online-style game called Free City. Interestingly enough, he starts to figure out that the world around him is more than it seems. With the mission to be a good guy and catch up to the girl he thinks is just dynamite, he sets off into action. There’s plenty of comedy afoot after the premise is set, as expected. And beyond that, it also brings an incredible and thought-provoking twist to the table. No wonder Disney already wants a sequel.
Reynolds Has a Bright Future With 20th Century
As it stands, Free Guy isn’t the only Reynolds movie to come to Disney+. The equally crass Deadpool movies are now on the platform. Further, it seems that Disney has agreed to bring Deadpool 3 to the MCU even after the Fox merger. It seems that 20th Century Studios is the new third-party production company of the Disney brand. And with the presence of Reynolds will come so much snark it might just make you sick. Too bad we don’t have freaky healing powers like Deadpool.
