Nintendo is rolling out the big guns with the reopening of their Nintendo World, now renamed Nintendo NYC, store. Previously we mentioned that Charles Martinet would be appearing at the reopening. On the official Nintendo NYC Twitter, it was revealed that once the store opens you will receive a commemorative Mario or Link coin with the purchase of a limited edition tee shirt.

It’s unclear if the coins are only available if you purchase a shirt in the store. Numerous fans hope that the shirts and, in turn, the coins are available online. The hope gives fans who can’t be at the opening a chance to have something special from the Nintendo NYC opening. While a coin doesn’t trump the chance to meet Charles Martinet, it will still hold a special place to those who have obtained them.

Nintendo memorabilia is notorious for increasing in value as time goes on. While the amount of coins that will be available is unknown, you can almost guarantee that the numbers won’t be very high. Hopefully, the amount will be higher than Nintendo normally produces.

Were you on the fence before? Is this news enough to push you over the edge? Would love to hear your plans for the Nintendo NYC opening. If you go and purchase the shirts why not share your photos from the commemorative event? Either way, we would love to hear your plans.
