Jason’s reign of terror is growing – and it looks like he’s coming to a gaming console near you. Earlier today, Horror Inc., the minds behind Friday the 13th, announced that they would be expanding their franchise into the “Jason Universe.” The “Jason Universe” will reportedly include new movies, new merch, and new video games, all starring the classic hockey mask-wearing serial killer. Since the project is still new, we don’t have many confirmed details on what Jason is doing next, but a look at the new social media accounts for Jason Universe has left some hints that we might be seeing him in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

Jason Voorhees first made his terrifying, bloody debut in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). Since then, Horror Inc. has led the franchise through eleven more horror movies, including Freddy vs. Jason, a 2003 crossover with Nightmare on Elm Street. There’s also a TV series, a toy line, merchandise, and three separate video games based on the movies, including a PC game, a console game, and a mobile game called Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle. With all that in mind, it’s clear that Jason’s no stranger to branching out into new business ventures, but Horror Inc. has just announced the birth of the “Jason Universe.”

The official Twitter account for the “Jason Universe” calls it “a new era of the Friday the 13th franchise.” Horror Inc. hasn’t offered much explanation for what that really means, but fans have been going wild trying to figure out where Jason is headed next. Interestingly, aside from the usual assortment of critic accounts, the official Jason Universe account is following both Fortnite and Call of Duty, leading some to wonder – is Jason about to slash his way into those games?

It certainly wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility to see Jason pop up in either game. Call of Duty already has content from iconic horror movies like Scream, Donnie Darko, and Saw, while Fortnite has more in the way of original horror skins. It’s entirely possible that we might see Jason’s goalie mask popping up in one or both of these games sometime soon, though nothing’s been confirmed yet.

Be sure to stay tuned to the official “Jason Universe” social media accounts for more information.
