After the horrific incidents that took the lives of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, ICE agents have become one of the main targets of hatred for many Americans. However, there are also people who demand that those who vote to fund ICE take responsibility. Not too long ago, a comedian named Walter Masterson openly criticized a Democratic congressman in New York. The comedian did not shout at him and instead offered the New York congressman, Tom Suozzi, a diaper. The move itself was a criticism of the congressman’s alleged connection to Trump, who was infamously known for often soiling himself. Such a stunt definitely drew the attention of many people, yet unexpectedly, the New York comedian was now facing a legal threat from the Trump administration.
The comedian even posted a video addressing the situation, saying that the administration was trying to indict him under the FACE Act. The man looked relatively calm, saying that they did not have a case against him, but he still believed that would not stop the Trump administration. Masterson claimed that facts did not matter to the Trump administration and that they only cared about clicks, calling them content creators who were desperate for views and attention.
He explained that police were indeed called when he and his friends interrupted the congressman’s speech and offered him the diaper. However, they were quickly let go since it was clear that none of them was being violent. Yet now, the Trump administration was targeting them.
The New York comedian explained that he and his friends had contacted their lawyers and were currently waiting for federal agents to break into his home. Despite what happened to him, Masterson still insisted that he would continue to protest and fight. He said that this was not how democracy should work and that he would not let himself be intimidated by what he described as retaliation.
Online, internet users were siding with the New York comedian. “If you’re under investigation, you’re doing something right!” one user wrote. Another said, “That protest was epic. Thank you. It was powerful, important, and 100% true, as well as nonviolent. Our elected officials need to be held accountable. What a waste of taxpayer money to go after you.”
Others were angry that the Trump administration was blatantly using what they described as a campaign of intimidation in its attempt to silence protesters and those who criticize them.“They are literally trying to take away our FREE SPEECH. Where is all the outrage from the Republicans, Independents, MAGA? It’s just… crickets…” one commenter said.
