Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are two of the most famous businesswomen and fashion designers. But while the duo chose to pursue fashion as a career, they began their journey to fame as Full House stars. The twins were only 6 months old when they began sharing the role of Michelle Tanner in Full House. While the pair were talented, working with them initially wasn’t easy. Full House‘s John Stamos even recently shared that he temporarily fired Mary-Kate and Ashley.
John Stamos Fired The Olsen Twins
On Monday, Stamos appeared on an episode of Josh Peck’s Good Guys Podcast. During the chat, the actor revealed working with the Olsen sisters during their earlier years on the show was so challenging that he fired them temporarily.
“I did it. I didn’t try, I did it.”
Next, Stamos recalled the incident that led to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen nearly getting the boot. The star said they were filming a memorable scene, and the then 11-month-old twins weren’t feeling excited about being on set. According to Full House‘s John Stamos, the sisters were yelling uncontrollably, and he became fed up. He asked for the sitcom’s crew and told them, “This is not gonna work, guys. Get rid of them. I can’t work like this.” The crew listened and asked the Olsen twins to leave the show.
Full House’s John Stamos Asked For The Olsen Sisters’ Return
Following the hard decision, the producers hired new replacements in no time. However, the pair were nothing compared to Mary-Kate and Ashley, as the latter duo was unique. As a result, Stamos was forced to ask the producers to bring Mary-Kate and Ashley back to the show.
“It was only a few days and I said, ‘Bring the Olsens back.’ These kids are terrible,” Stamos said.
Following their return to the show, the sisters stayed for a few years before leaving in 1995. Nearly three decades later, Full House’s John Stamos says the Olsen twins know what happened. Meanwhile, the sisters have left the movie industry and are eager to attain more success in their fashion careers.
