During last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, fans were ecstatic to hear that G4 was making a comeback, and some old favorites are returning to the platform. In a tweet from G4’s page, the channel announced that they will be reviving the classic  Attack of the Show! and X-Play.

The tweet featured the familiar voice of X-Play host Adam Sessler and the text, “We heard you. The legends return. Summer 2021. We never stopped playing.”

G4 aired its final broadcast in 2014, and Attack of the Show! and X-Play were two of its biggest programs. Running from 1998 to 2013, X-Play was more focused on video games while Attack of the Show! focused more on pop culture as a whole. Olivia Munn was one of the original hosts, and she is in talks of returning to the program. However, the only confirmed G4 host we know is WWE’s Xavier Woods.

Attack of the Show

In an interview with SYFY Wire, Blair Herter, G4’s head of brand, commented on the revival, “G4 really is a comedy brand with a gaming problem.’ You know what you get with those shows. Regardless of how the content launches and how it evolves, we always endeavor with those shows to make sure you know what you’re getting when you give us that hour, or two or three hours, of your time.”

As of this writing, it is still unclear as to where gamers and pop-culture fans will be able to watch the new G4 content (or when it will begin to air). The rumor is that the shows like Attack of the Show! and X-Play might be available on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, but nothing is concrete.

Are you looking forward to the revival of G4? Are there any other shows you’re hoping to see return to the channel? Let us know in the comments below, and keep coming back to The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
