Apparently, winter is not coming to San Diego Comic-Con in 2018. HBO has just announced that their two most popular series, Game of Thrones and Westworld, will not be attending SDCC this year due to scheduling conflicts. Here is an official statement by HBO on this news:

“Due to production schedules and air dates for Game of Thrones and Westworld, these series will not be presented at San Diego Comic-Con this Summer. HBO has a longstanding relationship with SDCC, and we are very grateful for the fans’ enthusiastic response over the years. We look forward to returning in the future.”

Just last week, HBO gave a pilot order for a new Game of Thrones spin-off that will be set during the “golden age of heroes” and thousands of years before the events of the original series. It is important to note that this will be the first of five potential spin-offs currently in development. The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will air in Summer 2019.

Westworld, on the other hand, is nearing the end of its second season with only two episodes remaining. Westworld season two airs Sundays on HBO at 9:00 EST. You can check out our latest review here.

SDCC

SDCC will be running July 19th-22nd at the San Diego Convention Center. We already have a rumored plan for what the DCEU could be doing there and it has been confirmed that the MCU will not have a major presence at the event this year other than to promote the 10 year anniversary of their cinematic universe. Stay tuned for any more updates on SDCC.
