While there are a ton of games that’ll survive the infamous Nintendo 3DS eShop shutdown, some are already seeing the consequences of it. For those who love Nintendo Badge Arcade, the 3DS game has been experiencing a few critical issues. While we’re dealing with only a few, hopefully, temporary issues, the problems and the inevitable shutdown may lead to the permanent end of the little game.
How The Nintendo 3DS eShop Shutdown Might Change Nintendo Badge Arcade
For those who aren’t in the know, Nintendo Badge Arcade is a 2015 game that relies on microtransactions and collecting based on the 3DS functionality. Games similar to Nintendo Badge Arcade included the little-known Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball and StreetPass Salesbunny. The gist of the game is that Nintendo Badge Arcade is a 2D arcade game where players would use rotating machines to pull badges that they collect. While paid play is an option, daily free plays allowed players to successfully chip away at what they wanted, which is why the game has fans enduring to even this day.
Nintendo Badge Arcade PSA:
Nintendo has made a mistake in the configuration files Badge Arcade downloads – as such, users will not currently get free downloads. It’s possible they will fix this, but this doesn’t appear to be a deliberate act pic.twitter.com/bSTcFjKgk2

The unfortunate news here is that those free plays, the one thing that allows the game to exist in any normal capacity, are gone. Due to the Nintendo 3ds eshop shutdown, players are now coming together to try and figure out the true cause, many adding to the report pile that ensures they are all experiencing the same issue. The game’s functionality is at a low, which has led many data miners across the internet to uncover the truth. Dataminers have given at least a temporary answer to the question. Many believe the bug out is due to an issue with a configuration file that exists server-wide. While this means it’s largely an independent issue, it puts a bit of a timer on things.
Will The Issue Be Fixed?
Players are working en masse to let Nintendo know before the shutdown. We’re hoping that there’s a fix before the great 3DS eShop shutdown. Once the servers are down, it’s doubtful a solution will ever arise. While there is potential for a new configuration file to come from a Nintendo employee over the next few days, I’m not so hopeful. The 3DS eShop shutdown doesn’t do this to all games, thank goodness. So if you have some beloved titles, don’t worry. They’ll still work.
