Microsoft has revealed the next lineup for its Games with Gold promotion on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. What a better way to ring in the new year than with some free games?
Starting on January 1st, Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition will be available on the Xbox One. This add-on adds all Season One characters, eight costumes, 16 premium accessory packs, and the classic Killer Instinct from 1994. Killer Instinct usually comes with only one character available at a time, so this pack is a must have if you have yet to get any other character.
Also on January 1st, Xbox 360 owners will be getting DiRT Showdown for free. This game puts you behind the wheel of a variety of rally cars and trucks. Players participate in several different events to win prize money. This allows players to unlock higher difficulty levels, more events, and deeper challenges. Fans of rally racing will feel right at home with this game.

Starting on January 15th, Xbox One owners will be able to download Zheros, a side-scroller that also features local co-op. Beating enemies up with a bunch of clever combos, tracking down secret areas, and some light platforming are at the core of this game. Players will be thrown into a beautiful and futuristic universe as they join the Zheros squad as they take on the evil forces that threaten the universe. This one should be a good game to play with friends.
Also on January 15th, Xbox 360 owners will be able to download Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This is one of the games that was enjoyed by those who played it. Now everyone will get the chance to check it out. Set in a cyberpunk Detroit following the advent of commonplace cybernetic enhancements to human society, you play Adam Jensen, a security expert who gets caught up in an explosion and has all of his limbs and most of his organs replaced with cybernetic parts against his will. Players must uncover the nature of the explosion that changed Adam, the terrorist plots of his fellow augmented citizens, and the government that’s prejudiced against them. The game allows different ways for players to approach its world. Players can go in guns blazing, use a stealthy approach, talk their way out of difficult situations, or use a combination of all three.
Microsoft has offered another decent round of Games with Gold for gamers in January. All four games are playable on the Xbox One, so make sure not to miss out.
