Being a news reporter can place you in some dicey situations. And one female reporter for Oregon‘s KEZI 9 News had a rough day at work when a group of young men decided to harass her while she was attempting to do her job. As she tried to speak, the childish adults screamed and yelled, some exclaiming cringey internet jokes such as “6-7” or “help me.” By the end, a tear can be seen rolling down the reporter’s cheek as she did her best to hold her composure with a smile.
Fortunately, none of the harassers physically touched the Oregon female reporter, but it’s hard not to think that she didn’t feel scared as they got uncomfortably close to her. “She probably feared for her safety. They would never try that with a grown man,” remarked a Reddit user. “You can see she’s crying at the end and barely holding it together,” added another. Despite this, she still managed to hold her smile and eye contact with the camera, quite a show of self-control and admirably mature behavior.
What isn’t admirable in the slightest is how those boys were acting. “The way this is so embarrassing for them,” one commenter expressed. “How can they can act that way and not at all be embarrassed by their own behavior,” agreed a second. Some went even as far as to blame the government for the men’s mistreatment of the reporter. “It’s trump’s America now. Bad behaviour from buffoons in power trickle down,” says a Redditor.
As one commenter puts it, “If anything this really highlights the reporterโs professionalism and dedication to her job. What a group of moronic buffoons.” This awful experience she endured is proof that she’s the person for the job and knows what it takes to be a professional, even amid utter chaos around her. Even a sports director for KEZI posted on X praising the Oregon reporter for doing an incredible job.
