Gears 5 is officially here. At least it is if you purchased the Ultimate Edition, or are a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that while the game has been greeted with mostly rave reviews, everything has not been totally smooth.
Gears 5‘s early access went live on Thursday night and almost from the get-go, players noticed some server issues.
Those issues continued into Friday morning and are still ongoing as of the writing of this article. Unsurprisingly, the issues are souring some of their experience with the game.
Developers, The Coalition first sent out a notice on Thursday afternoon that something was up with their online content.
We are aware of reports that some Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers are not seeing their #Gears5 Ultimate Edition content in-game.
We are currently investigating and will provide further updates as we have them.

In the wee hours of the morning, the team thought it had found a solution, saying it saw better stability. It turns out whatever solve they crafted, didn’t wipe out the problems completely.
Friday morning brought another update, along with a warning that players might be kicked out of matches while a patch was rolled out.
If you are experiencing issues with our services, our team are continuing to work on getting them resolved.

As of Friday afternoon, the bugs have still not been ironed out. Another Twitter post, shortly after the lunch hour, indicated some outages here and there.
Needless to say, those who got the game early and were eager to play haven’t been too happy. Various multiplayer modes (including the one where you can play as Dave Bautista) have been affected since the early access launch.
Some have rightfully pointed out the problem with touting access four or five days ahead of the official launch if the game is unplayable. To the developer’s credit, Gears 5 doesn’t appear completely unplayable. That doesn’t mean numerous error messages popping up is any less annoying.
