According to the forum post, you will want to follow the following directions:
Step 1: Download the new Windows Update
All Windows 10 players are strongly encouraged to download the new Windows update (September 29, 2016 – KB3194496) immediately before pre-downloading Gears of War 4. This update fixes an issue which could cause your game download to restart.Step 2: Pre-Load the game
- Open the Windows Store app
- Search for Gears of War 4
- Select the edition of the game you have pre-ordered, or pre-order your edition of choice
- Click Install to begin your download
If you don’t follow the following steps, Gears of War 4 will download automatically in the background but will be hampered by you lack of dedication: following the directions will make the download process faster.
