The Coalition announced at San Diego Comic Con that, after its release this August, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, the remaster of the first game in the series, will be bundled with the Xbox One. The bundle will cost $350, the same cost as an Xbox One without the game included.
During its panel at San Diego Comic Con, The Coalition also announced that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will come with five new missions which weren’t included in the original release of the Xbox 360 version of the game due to time constraints, but were then released on the PC version.
Following the announcement, Microsoft released a statement in order to clarify what exactly would be released, saying:
“At yesterday’s Gears of War panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Rod Fergusson stated that every Xbox One sold starting August 26 would include a copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. To clarify, only the Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle will include a copy of the game.
“We’re committed to offering gamers a variety of choices to help them jump into the current generation of gaming this year and are excited to offer the Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle next month.”
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is set to be released for the Xbox One on August 25, and will be released on the PC sometime this year, although an exact date for the PC release has not been given as of yet. The Ultimate Edition will include access to a Gears of War 4 beta, which also doesn’t currently have a release date. According to the developers, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be playable at 4K on PC versions.
