General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini has become public enemy number one in the soap opera community. His storytelling and casting decisions have garnered much criticism. His choice to fire Kelly Monaco and kill off her character Sam McCall infuriated fans. Now, he’s angered more people with his behavior during the actress’ final day on set.
Monaco’s 21-year run with the show ended on November 1, 2024 when Sam died following surgery to donate her liver to Lulu Spencer. Sam’s death was undoubtedly a tough scene for Kelly, her co-stars, and the crew to film.
Earlier this week, a video went viral showing Monaco’s final day on set. The actress, holding a bouquet of flowers, gave an emotional speech to the General Hospital crew.
”I’ve been on this lot for 25 year and you have all been my family,” she began. The actress gets choked up as she thanks everyone for the memories and promises, “It will not be the last you see of me.”
As the actress finishes her speech, the camera pans to the cast and crew, who are applauding. However, Valentini is the one person who isn’t showing any gratitude to Monaco.
General Hospital Fans Blast Frank Valentini for Not Clapping for Kelly Monaco
General Hospital fans have been harsher in their criticism of Valentini since Monaco’s firing. Rumors have swirled that her exit was retaliation for longstanding drama between her and the producer. Although there’s no confirmation or denial of these rumors, his actions in her goodbye video spoke volumes.
On a Reddit thread, fans voiced their annoyance at Frank not joining the applause for Kelly.
It’s so rude that he is not even pretending to clap.
Another commenter wrote:
Frank is such a miserable loser just standing there like an emotionless stick man.
Another fan didn’t understand why the producer showed up:
Ugh, I hate Frank for so many things at this point, but this has to be one of the top. He could’ve at least had the decency to clap. Or better yet not be there at all.
One viewer hopes Valentini gets what’s coming to him:
Frank is the Devil, but karma will handle him soon.
Unfortunately for fans, Frank Valentini continues to be in charge of General Hospital, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be replaced soon.
Meanwhile, Kelly Monaco is moving on to the next chapter of her life. The actress hinted she’ll share her side of the story soon and fans can’t wait for the soap opera tea.
