The Pufferfish is a three-star fish you can catch in Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma. It is one of many aquatic creatures you’ll encounter in Genshin Impact, and it is quite useful for many things. However, it does not have as many fishing locations as fish like the Medaka and its variants, so it is not the easiest to find. By the end of this guide, you will learn all the current Pufferfish fishing locations in Genshin Impact.

All Pufferfish Locations in Genshin Impact
Once you finish the “Exploding Population” quest and get the Serenitea Pot, you will unlock fishing. You will also need to make specific bait that will attract Pufferfish. Pufferfish is caught using Fake Fly Bait. You can craft ten Fake Fly Bait with one Sakura Bloom and one Horsetail. You can obtain the crafting recipe from Nantuck, a Mondstadt Fishing Association NPC, after exchanging three Medaka fish.
Pufferfish spawn at any in-game time, so you do not need to worry about camping at the fishing spots at certain times. However, each spot has a finite number of Pufferfish that will spawn, and it will take some time for the locations to replenish. You may need to visit multiple Pufferfish fishing locations if you are trying to get several for Ako’s Sake Vessel.
Pufferfish can be found in the following locations:
- Cider Lake, south of Mondstadt.
- Dawn Winery
- East of Liyue Harbor
- Ritou docks in Inazuma
- East of Koseki Village and north of Amakumo Peak in Inazuma
It is worth noting that if you are also trying to find the Bitter Pufferfish, it will not spawn at Liyue Harbor or Koseki Village. However, it will spawn in the other three locations. Additionally, the Bitter Pufferfish spawns northeast of Qingce Village in Liyue and on the north side of Nazuchi Beach in Inazuma. The regular pufferfish does not spawn in these two locations.
