As many already expected given her title as Fontaine’s mightiest Champion Duelist, Clorinde is a DPS that shines through her ability to deal damage at massive speeds. She is also the second main DPS in Genshin Impact to have the Bond of Life mechanic as a cornerstone of her kit.
True to that, just like her fighting style demands meticulous mastery of both her rapier and pistolet, she will need a fine-tuned build and team to excel. Here’s the best Clorinde build in Genshin Impact, as well as a team sure to be able to keep up with her.
(Updated on June 12th, 2024 to add a new section).
The Best Clorinde Build in Genshin Impact: About Our Build
As Clorinde’s playstyle revolves around the use of her Elemental Skill, Hunter’s Vigil —which allows her to enter her Night Vigil state, converts all of her normal attacks into Electro-infused Swift Hunt pistolet shots, and enables her to both deal high damage and heal by performing Impale the Night— our build, which I like to call Merciless Protector, will be focused on boosting her NA and elemental damage above all else, all while also making sure she gets the most from her passives.
After entering Night Vigil, Clorinde can perform the Impale the Night lunging attack multiple times by activating her Elemental Skill. Once performed, the attack will clear all of her Bond of Life and increase its DMG, AoE, and healing based on its value. While in Night Vigil, all of Clorinde’s pistolet shots will grant her Bond of Life if her value is less than 100% and all of the healing received by her from sources outside of Impale the Night will be converted into Bond of Life.
The Best Artifacts for Clorinde
The best artifact set for Clorinde in Genshin Impact is a 4-píece Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy. The set is my main pick and fits Clorinde like a glove by allowing her to increase her overall damage by 18% per change in her Bond of Life value. The set will also offer an always-welcome 18% ATK boost.
Best Alternatives
Although no artifact set in the game will even come close to the damage offered by our top pick, a 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence will also work great for Clorinde given its massive NA/CA damage boost. If you plan on focusing on Aggravate or Hyperbloom, a 4-piece Thundering Fury can also work as a viable alternative. You can check out an overview of their effects as well as how to acquire all mentioned artifact sets below:
Artifact Set | Effects | How to Acquire |
---|---|---|
Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy (Top pick) | 2-piece: ATK +18%. 4-piece: Increases your overall DMG by 18% for 6 seconds after your Bond of Life value changes (max of 3 stacks). | Acquired by completing the Faded Theater domain, located on Fontaine’s Petrichor. |
Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | 2-piece: ATK +18% 4-piece: Performing your Elemental Skill will consume 15 energy and in exchange boost your normal, charged, and plunging attack DMG by 50% for 10 seconds. Cannot stack. | Can be acquired by completing Inazuma’s Momiji-Dyed Court domain, located on Yashiori Island. |
Thundering Fury | 2-piece: Electro DMG Bonus +15% 4-piece: Increases the damage dealt by Overloaded, Electro-Charged, Superconduct, and Hyperbloom by 40%, as well as the damage dealt by the Aggravate and Quicken reactions by 20%. Your Elemental Skill’s cooldown will be decreased by 1 second per reaction triggered within 0.8-second intervals. | Can be acquired by completing the Midsummer Courtyard domain, located on Mondstadt’s Starsnatch Cliff. |
Except for Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy, all of the artifact sets above can also be acquired through Mystic Offering.
Best Stats and Substats For Our Clorinde Build
Thanks to her CRIT Rate substat, ATK-centric set, and passive, I recommend that you go with an ATK% Sands of Eon, an Electro DMG Bonus Goblet of Eonothem, and either a CRIT DMG (if you have a CRIT Rate weapon) or a CRIT Rate Circlet of Logos. As usual for on-field DPSs, focus on CRIT Rate, DMG, and EM/ATK when looking for substats.
Although reaching the 50/100 CRIT threshold is a must for any on-field DPS, I recommend that you aim even further and try to get at least 60%+ CRIT Rate and around 150% CRIT DMG when building Clorinde. Once at 60% CRIT Rate, Clorinde will be able to boost the stat to 80% by fully stacking Lawful Remuneration.
The Best Weapons for Clorinde
Like with most 5-star units, the best weapon for Clorinde is her signature 5-star sword, Absolution. When equipped, the sword will provide her with a 44.1% increase in CRIT DMG (at level 90). The weapon’s passives will then allow Clorinde to get a 20% boost in CRIT DMG, while also allowing her to increase her overall DMG by 12% for 6 seconds after her Bond of Life value either increases or decreases (maximum of 3 stacks).
Best 5-star Alternatives
For those not planning or pulling for her weapon, or who just want to be prepared in case they fail to acquire it, my main pick for Clorinde will be Haran Geppaku Futsu. The weapon will offer a permanent 12% Elemental DMG Bonus to its wearer. Ayato’s signature weapon will also allow Clorinde to get a 40% boost in Normal Attack DMG by performing her Elemental Skill after two or more teammates use theirs.
Ayaka’s signature weapon, Mistsplitter Reforged, and the Primordial Jade Cutter are also solid choices. Among the two, I favor the former given its ability to offer a 12% increase to all Elemental DMG and allow Clorinde to further increase the boost by 8, 16, and 28% by gathering Mistsplitter’s Emblem stacks. Like the Absolution, Mistsplitter Reforged will offer 44.1% CRIT DMG increase once at level 90.
The Best 4-Star and F2P Weapons for Clorinde
As her kit heavily relies on NA DMG, the best 4-star weapons for Clorinde in Genshin Impact are The Black Sword and an R5 Finale of the Deep. The latter is also the best F2P pick for her.
Although the BP-exclusive is the safest bet for her thanks to its NA DMG boost and CRIT Rate substat, Finale of the Deep (while at fifth refinement) will offer Clorinde both a 24% boost in ATK and a Bond of Life value equal to 25% of her total HP after she performs her Elemental Skill. The craftable sword will also allow her to get an ATK boost based on 4.8% of her Bond of Life value after the latter is cleared. You can get a maximum of 300 ATK in this manner. The Lion’s Roar is also a solid pick when in Overload teams and can work fine for our Clorinde build. To recap. here are the best weapons for Clorinde in Genshin Impact:
Best Weapons for Clorinde | Secondary Stat |
---|---|
1. Absolution (Best in slot by far) | CRIT DMG |
2. Haran Geppaku Futsu | CRIT Rate |
3. Mistsplitter Reforged | CRIT DMG |
4. Primordial Jade Cutter | CRIT Rate |
5. Finale of the Deep (R5) | ATK% |
6. The Black Sword | CRIT Rate |
7. Lion’s Roar | ATK% |
Are Clorinde’s Constellations a Must?
No, as Clorinde is fully capable of taking the spot of the game’s best Electro DPS while at C0. However, If you want to awaken her full potential no matter how much you will need to spend, I recommend that you aim for at least her second constellation, “Now, As We Face the Perils of the Long Night”.
Once unlocked, the constellation will allow you to boost her NA and Last Lightfall DMG by up to 90% of her attack after your team triggers a set number of reactions. Her fourth and sixth constellations are also game-changers. If you have the resources but are not sure you can unlock her second constellation, I recommend pulling for her weapon instead.
The Best Teams for Clorinde in Genshin Impact
Thanks to her ability to gain buffs based on the number of reactions triggered by the party, the best team for Clorinde in Genshin Impact will use Agravate and Hyperbloom to take her DMG to new heights and feature her as its main DPS, Nahida as its main Dendro/EM support, Furina as its sub-DPS/DMG Buffer, and Baizhu as its dedicated healer/shielder. Focusing fully on Aggravate by replacing Furina with Kazuha and Baizhu with Fischl can also work.
Using a team featuring Chevreuse, Bennett, and either Xiangling or the Raiden Shogun can also work. This team is my main alternative for our best-in slot, is focused on triggering Overload, and has Chevreuse and Bennett as its main buffers/healers. The Raiden Shogun will then work as a joker and take the field while Clorinde’s Elemental Skill is in cooldown. To recap, here are the best team compositions for Clorinde. We also added a few fun but not meta variations sure to allow her to perform at her best:
- Clorinde + Nahida + Furina/Kazuha + Baizhu/Fischl (C6) (Best in slot)
- Clorinde + Chevreuse + Bennett + Xiangling/Fischl (C6)/Raiden Shogun (Overload-focused)
- Clorinde + Nahida + Baizhu/Kazuha + Fischl (C6)/Raiden Shogun (Mostly reaction buffs, all chips on Aggravate)
- Clorinde + Raiden Shogun + Sangonomiya Kokomi + Sucrose (Equipped with a full Viridescent Venerer set)/Kazuha
The Best F2P Team for Clorinde
Although our second pick might be seen as the best F2P team for her, the best team for those who did not pull for any of the above 5-star and have yet to add Chevreuse to their roster will feature Clorinde as its main DPS. We will then go with both the Dendro Traveler and Collei (or any other Dendro unit capable of applying the element in an AoE) as its Dendro supports. Lastly, we will use either Kuki Shinobu, Sucrose, or Fischl, the latter two only when using a Dendro healer. Using a healer here is a must, as Clorinde can only heal herself.
Like our best-in-slot team, this composition will revolve around Aggravate. Beware, however, as this team will do significantly less damage when compared to our two main picks.
You can play Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices.
