Genshin Impact Meets Palworld in Upcoming RPG From Azur Lane Creators

Time to collect critters… and waifus.

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Nowadays, we’re just waiting to see what type of anime-themed installment is right around the corner. This style of game has become so saturated that it could arguably compete against some big-hitters in the industry. However, there are some developers who are trying to combine different formulas to bring something familiar yet new altogether. The latest game to make it into the HoYoverse-inspired market is Azur Promilia, an installment that combines the lovely waifus we love to collect from Genshin Impact and the creature-collecting shenanigans from the recent Palworld.

Azur Promilia Is An Upcoming Creature-Collector RPG With Anime-like Waifus

In a new trailer, Manjuu Network Technology, the studio behind the legendary Azur Lane game, now brings us Azur Promilia. From what we saw in the lengthy and waifu-packed trailer, this installment features an open world reminiscent of that of HoYoverse’s prime gacha game. Additionally, it implements the creature-collecting and crafting mechanics from Palworld. While it is a strange combination we didn’t see coming, gamers worldwide have welcomed it with open arms.

The release date is still uncertain, but judging by the intricate mechanics we saw in the reveal trailer, it might be far off from arriving. Of the things that we noticed, this installment took inspiration from Genshin Impact‘s latest character selection screen, combat, and open-world exploration. On the other hand, the fact that you can craft gathering stations to let your creatures collect materials reminds us a lot of Palworld.

In other situations, I would be skeptical about seeing another Genshin clone, or what seems to be the first Palworld clone. However, the people behind Azur Lane created a hit with its bullet-hell and ship-collecting mechanics, so I have high hopes for Azur Promilia.

Whether the game launches this year or not, the landscape of anime-themed installments is getting busy. We have Zenless Zone Zero getting its third closed beta, Wuthering Waves keeps making ripples across the gaming community, and Blue Protocol is coming sometime during Q2 2024. As a fan, I live in a constant dichotomy. On the one hand, I want to play all of them, but on the other hand, I don’t have enough time or money to keep up with them. Still, I can’t wait to try them for a bit, at least, and see if Azur Promilia is the game that finally peels me away from Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail.
