Genshin Impact: Scarab Locations
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Scarabs are a Local Specialty item for the Sumeru region in Genshin Impact, specifically in the Great Red Sand location. Scarabs are used as one of Cyno’s Ascension materials; with that in mind, if you don’t play him then you can safely ignore them. Nevertheless, it never hurts to grab some of these Scarabs along the way since you never know when you need them. To help you with that, here are all the locations of the Scarabs in Genshin Impact‘s Sumeru.

Genshin Impact – Scarab Locations in Sumeru

In total, you should be able to find 76 Scarabs across the Great Red Sand area: Land of Lower Setekh, Hypostle Desert, and Land of Upper Setekh — although some are hidden inside Sumeru Domains and Temples that are unlocked through World Quest. A number of players also added that it can take up to 72 hours or 3 days for the Scarabs to respawn. Don’t forget to check out Genshin Impact‘s official interactive map for more details of the Scarabs’ locations.

Land of Lower Setekh:

  • Near the Eye of the Sands Teleport Waypoint, walk down the stairs to the west and you should find Scarabs x2 on the rocks to the left.
  • South of the Eye of the Sands Teleport Waypoint, there are Scarabs x2.
  • Further south from the Teleport Waypoint, on some rocks, there’s Scarab x1.
  • From the Teleport Waypoint north of Abdju Road go to the nearby wind current — but don’t fly up, instead head left and there should be Scarab x1 just beneath a rock.
  • Head southwest while following the road. Eventually, you will spot Scarabs x2 on a rock high up so you should use the Four-Leaf Sigil to fly up.
  • Run northeast through the tunnel from the Statue of the Seven until you see Scarab x1 in front of you.
  • Head southwest while following the path until you’re close to Sobek Oasis, a Scarab x1 should appear on the right-hand side of the road.
  • Keep going to the south to find another Scarab x1.
  • Keep to the left after the fork in the road to another Scarab x1.

Land of Upper Setekh:

  • From the Teleport Waypoint east of Sobek Oasis, head south until you find a large cactus and Scarab x1 beside it.
  • From the Teleport Waypoint east of Sobek Oasis, head towards the southwest while gliding down the cliffs; there’s Scarab x1 between two cacti.
  • West of the Teleport Waypoint east of Sobek Oasis, look for a large rock pillar then fly up using the Four-Leave Sigil.
  • There’s a natural bridge connecting two cliffs near Sobek Oasis. Follow the path to the west and you should find Scarabs x3.
  • After crossing the natural bridge, look to your left and spot a large rock pillar. Use the Four-Leaf Sigil to fly up and grab the Scarab x1.
  • From the ancient building, head northeast.
  • Near the Statue of the Seven.
  • From the Statue of the Seven, glide down and look for a large rock, the Scarab x1 should be behind it.
  • East of an Eremite Camp, on flat rocks.
  • West of an Eremite Camp there is Scarab x1 on the sand dune
  • From the sand dune, head further west and look for a small rock pillar to find Scarab x1 on top.

Hypostyle Desert:

  • From The Dune of Elusion Teleport Waypoint, head south.
  • From The Dune of Elusion Teleport Waypoint, head east while following the road to find Scarab x1 on the left side and another one on the right side of the road.
  • From The Dune of Elusion Teleport Waypoint, head northeast to Sobek Oasis; there’s Scarab x1 between two trees, at the base of the tall cliffs.
  • Northeast of The Dune of Elusion Teleport Waypoint, look for a broken stone pillar. Then head northwest.
  • There’s Scarab x1 in the sand if you glide south from the Statue of the Seven.
  • North of the Mausoleum of King Deshret there are Scarabs x2.
  • West of The Dune of Carouses, south of the Garden of Endless Pillars Domain, there are Scarabs x5
  • West of The Dune of Magma, on top of a stone building.
  • Northwest of The Dune of Magma, there’s Scrab x1 on top of another stone building.
  • Glide down northeast from the previous location for another Scarab.
  • West of of the Mausoleum of King Deshret, run north past the Ruin Guards.

Below Hypostyle Desert and from NPC:

To unlock the underground area of Hypostle Desert and find more Scarabs, you’ll have to clear the “Golden Slumber” World Quest questline. There’s also a boy NPC named Nawaz in the Aaru Village that will give you Scarabs x4 free of charge; however, Nawaz will only show up during the daytime and will only give you the Scarabs once.
