The Fond Farewell concludes the Archon Questline of Chapter 1, Act III. It is also the last quest focusing on Liyue before you move on to the Inazuma region in Genshin Impact. The tasks you must complete throughout the quest are as follows:

- Look for Zhongli
- Look for Zhongli at the Northland Bank
- Leave Northland Bank
- Follow the road up to Yujing Terrace
- Talk to Big-Footed Dajiao and Wrench Wang
- Talk to Uncle Gao and Uncle Sun
- Listen to the Millelith announcement
- Go to the site of the Rite of Parting
- Talk to the people taking part in the rite
- Look for Zhongli at the scene
To begin the first part of the quest, head to Wangsheng Funeral Parlor in Liyue Harbor. A quest marker will appear on your map, showing you where to go. Alternatively, head to the Teleporter in Liyue Harbor and head southeast towards the marker. Go straight through the four-way intersection in the road and turn right once you reach the bridge. Speak to the Ferrylady, and she will notify you that Zhongli is at Northland Bank.
After the cutscene ends, head back the way you came from and head up the red staircase towards the new quest marker. Make two right turns and head up the second set of red stairs. Upon reaching the top, turn right to find the doors to Northland Bank. Once you enter the bank, you will encounter a cutscene involving Childe, Signora and Zhongli. You will also learn more about various events that unfolded and discover more information about Zhongli as a character.
Once this cutscene ends, you’ll appear back at the four-way intersection in town. Head northwest past the Teleporter and cross the bridge towards the new quest markers. Head up the stone staircases until you find a large plaza with the two groups you must speak to. Interact with both pairs to hear more about what is going on in the story. A new quest market will also appear, leading you to a group of citizens and Fengyan, the Millelith Sergeant. Watch this cutscene and listen to the announcement to advance to the next step in the quest.
After the announcement cutscene, Paimon will remind you about the Rite of Parting. Head towards the next plaza to find Ningguang, Keqing and Ganyu giving a speech. Following the cutscene, you will be asked to talk to the people taking part in the rite. Speak to Ningguang, Keqing and Ganyu before finding Zhongli again at the scene. Head towards him and speak to him. Talking to him about Inazuma and the Archon Baal will conclude the quest’s end.
