One of the most fun things to do if you’re bored in Genshin Impact is to hunt for glitches. Although the game is generally bug-free, a few slip through the cracks. At times, this can be detrimental to the overall player experience. Still, more often than not, these glitches are too small to cause any real harm. There are loads of fun glitches that are still in Genshin Impact that every player should check out at least once. Now, a new glitch joins these ranks with the release of Genshin Impact Version 4.1, which allows players to perform a magic trick with certain NPCs.

New to Genshin Impact Version 4.1, Energy Transfer Devices act as a central mechanic to the expanded Fontaine map. Players need to power these large battery terminals to charge devices in the area and solve puzzles. Although this puzzle-solving mechanic itself isn’t important for the glitch, the devices themselves can be used for a bizarre purpose. Specifically, players will want to find a specific Energy Storage Device that they can pick up and place. A Reddit user shows off an ideal location for this Genshin Impact glitch, which is near the guard Grainville in the Fortress of Meropide.

huh?

To perform this Genshin Impact 4.1 glitch, Reddit user NeonMarijuana demonstrates that by picking up the Energy Storage Device and placing it on Grainville, the device will push the NPC ever so slightly forward. By repeating this process, the player can bring the unsuspecting guard right to the precipice of the platform the two of you occupy. Channeling your inner Lyney by pushing the poor NPC over the edge, rather than plummeting to his doom, he will float in the air, completing your ultimate magic trick. The original poster of this Genshin Impact glitch sums the whole situation up fairly well, titling the post with the simple phrase, “huh?”

Though it is a bit disappointing that we didn’t see Grainville fall to the depths of the Fortress of Meropide, this glitch does reveal some pieces of key information about NPCs. Namely, NPCs aren’t subject to the same physics that the player and monsters must obey. Instead, things like gravity don’t seem to affect NPCs in the slightest in Genshin Impact. While this may seem like a small detail, learning about a game’s inner machinations through glitches and bugs will always be interesting. Hopefully, soon, we’ll learn the full truth behind Genshin’s floating NPC magic trick.
