Few moments in life are quite as thrilling as purchasing a brand new car. With that in mind, a car salesman in Georgia is going viral after posting a video of himself awkwardly singing a religious song to a customer who had just purchased a new vehicle. While the “song blessing” may have been intended as a sweet, unique touch, the internet has been less impressed with the footage, which is circulating online right now.
The video was originally posted to TikTok by The_Singing_Salesman a couple days ago, but has since made its way to Reddit. In the clip, the singing car salesman stands on the left, while the customer — who appears somewhat uninterested — stands awkwardly on the right. Behind them both is the black SUV the customer has bought, replete with a fancy red bow on top.
In dulcet tones, the singing salesman belts out, “May the Lord bless this car and make his face shine upon everyone who rides along and may he give you peace and bring you joy for the journey on every road that leads you home.” To be fair, he does have a lovely voice, but the moment comes across as a bit of an overwrought ceremony that customers — especially the one in the video — don’t seem particularly excited about.
What’s also interesting is the fact that there’s confetti all over the floor, which indicates that this is just a snippet of what unfolded. Accompanying the footage on Reddit, a piece of additional context reads, “Note the bow on the car and the confetti on the floor, this song blessing is apparently the tail end of a long rigmarole that every customer has to go through.” According to the TikTok video, the auto dealership is called Cherokee Mitsubishi, and is based in Canton, Georgia.
As the video continues to spread online, social media users have flocked to the comments to share their thoughts, with many reacting to what they described as pure awkwardness. On Reddit, one commenter expressed, “I’ll pay the sticker price if you don’t [expletive] do the singing thing” while joked, “Nevermind, I don’t want the car anymore.” Meanwhile, over on TikTok, one of the most up-voted comments read, “Can they pay extra for this to not happen?” Another netizen penned, “I am pretty extroverted but this honestly a nightmare situation, I’d just give the keys back“.
