Opening a shop means you will eventually have to deal with difficult customers. That is just part of running a business. Most of the time, you can chalk it up to someone having a bad day or lacking basic manners. But every now and then, things can spiral out of hand. That is exactly what happened in Georgia when a Korean man got into a heated dispute at a coffee shop after claiming his boba drink was too bitter.
The man, who reportedly did not speak English very well, tried to get help by asking for the manager. According to him, the manager could speak Korean and might understand his concern better. After hearing his complaint, the coffee shop manager agreed to remake the drink. But things did not calm down from there. The man insisted that the manager should first taste his original drink to confirm that it was actually bitter. The manager refused, and that is when the argument really started.
Witnesses said the man became visibly frustrated and even cocked his arm back as if he were going to throw the drink. Other customers quickly stepped in before anything worse happened. Police were eventually called to the scene, and as they began talking to the man, a second officer arrived. This officer was less patient and spoke harshly, which made the situation even more tense.
At some point, the man’s daughter arrived to help translate. She tried to explain that the coffee shop employee had been rude and dismissive. But according to her, the Georgia officers did not give them much of a chance to talk. They told her that her father could explain his side in court. Frustrated, she replied, “I am a doctor. I know what court does, you do not need to teach me.”
In the end, the man received a citation and was told he would have to appear in court. Police also said that raising the drink like he was about to throw it could count as assault, and they issued a trespass order banning him from returning to the shop.
When the video surfaced online, opinions were split. Some internet users said the entire thing was a misunderstanding caused by a language barrier. One commenter noted that the store’s staff had been described in older reviews as rude, unprofessional, and unapologetic even before this incident. They added that loud music with profanity often played inside, making it an unpleasant environment for families.
Many people also criticized the Georgia police for escalating the situation instead of calming it down. As one user summed it up, “Cops are not fit for this kind of thing lol, that literally made it worse.”
