A Georgia mom, Charae, went viral after explaining why she and her new husband are temporarily maintaining separate homes while her daughters adjust to the transition. She states, “We do not have a traditional marriage.” By this, she means she and her husband live in separate houses. Although they have been married for two weeks, her husband lives in another city part-time.

The reason involves her daughters, who are 15 and 18. The house that she lives in, she purchased with her mother, who also lives there. Charae and her mother have lived together since Charae was pregnant with her youngest daughter, and Charae has raised her daughters as a single mother. Charae explains, “So my daughters don’t know anything about living with a man.” She describes their home as the place they feel comfortable. She wasn’t willing to disrupt that by moving her husband in with them full time “without a transition period.” She explains the arrangement in a TikTok video with over 407,000 views and 58,000 likes.

It was very important for both of us that my daughters, my mom and my husband were comfortable in this transition. My marriage was a real surprise for all of us, because marriage was not on my bingo card for 2026, so we need a transition period to make sure we consider everyone’s comfort levels with this new normal. #blendedfamily #marriage #newlyweds #singlemom #famil

Additionally, Charae explains that her husband wasn’t willing to do this either. They have a schedule: he stays at his house when he’s working and stays with them on his days off. The plan is to do this for “a few months until everyone is adjusted.” So far, the transition is going well. Charae says her mother absolutely loves having him around, especially after the garage door broke. Additionally, her mother calls her, gushing about how he cleaned the kitchen. She jokes, “He’s earning his keep.” Her eldest daughter is enjoying not having to do things like take out the trash.

Georgia Mom’s Marriage Has Everyone’s Attention

Many are praising Charae for putting her children first. One person states, “Finally, a mother and woman with some [expletive] sense. This makes so much sense.” Another adds, “Grown folk making grown folk decisions for their relationship that’s dope …much respect to you guys.” Others assure her that she’s making the right decision. One commenter says, “Love a mom who’s not male-centered! And making sure it’s a smooth adjustment for everyone and not rushed or biased!”

Charae’s decision to prioritize her daughters’ comfort during the transition also struck an emotional chord with viewers. One commenter says, “Thank you for not only protecting ur girls, but ur home and their peace!” Another sends her applause: “I love how you protected your girls; this is proof that having patience truly matters.” Meanwhile, another commenter has nothing but respect for her: “Ain’t nothing wrong with that queen! All respect!”

Charae has a few photos posted on her channel @fashionablenerd of her wedding, and many are sending her and her husband lots of well wishes.
