A Georgia pastor recently delivered a powerful sermon to his congregation, and video of the message is now going viral. The pastor, speaking to his congregation, invited them to “fact-check” his message, even recommending “ChatGPT.”
The footage was recorded by TikToker swatchofamerica — aka Monica Louise — who was sat in the congregation during the sermon. The man of the cloth starts, saying, “If you need to fact check it, use your ChatGPT. Go to BernieSanders.com. It’s all over the place.” before segueing into his smoking gun. “If you paid $1 in federal income tax last year, you paid more than SpaceX and Tesla combined.” After sharing this intriguing fact, a brief silence settles over the congregation.
After highlighting this injustice, the pastor then dubs what Elon Musk is doing as “stealing.” Going further, he declares, “You can call it clever. I call it stealing. Because if me, as a human, pays as much money as I did in taxes and can’t afford healthcare, then tell me in God’s — in Jesus’s name — tell me how a man that is about to be the wealthiest man on this planet many times over with trillions, tell me how no taxes were paid.”
The pastor then takes aim at Donald Trump, and how his net worth has “grown three billion since being in office. And that’s not including how enriched his family is becoming with Saudi Arabia right now.” Next, the man of the cloth describes how he thinks that we’ve lost sight of what Christmas really means. “We put on the sweaters and we play the bread circus.” he jokes, before stating, “We need to address the economic injustice happening in this country.” In response, the congregation applauds the pastor for his candid honesty. Ending the clip, the pastor opines, “I’m more enraged because I’m also starting to realise how deep this thing runs, and how many people have been suffering the whole time, and I haven’t even been aware of it. And that’s heartbreaking for me.”
As the video continues to gain traction online, viewers flocked to the comments to share their opinions. On TikTok, one thoughtful user wrote, “This isn’t political. This is facts.” while another added, “I am an atheist but I would go to his church“. Meanwhile, over on Reddit, another echoed this sentiment, expressing, “I would literally go to church if someone made this much sense on sundays“.
