Marjorie Taylor Greene, a representative of Georgia‘s 14th congressional district, told a reporter to return to their country after a press conference didn’t go her way.
The Trump administration has been shaken to its core thanks to Signalgate after a journalist was mistakenly exposed to war plans via a Signal group chat. As questions abound from citizens, the press, Democrats, and more, Greene, a major MAGA supporter, resorted to a racist defense while on the hot seat.
During a press conference, a Sky News reporter asked Greene about the leaked war plans, and she lost it. “Should the defense secretary–,” the journalist expressed before the congresswoman rudely interjected. “Wait, what country are you from?” Greene asked, pointing a finger at the reporter identified as Martha Kelner. When Kelner answered she was from the United Kingdom, Greene yelled back:
“OK, we don’t give a crap about your opinion and your reporting. Why don’t you go back to your country where you have a major migrant problem? You should care about your own borders… Do you care about your own country? What about all the women that are raped by migrants?”
Rep. Greene continued shutting down the reporter, refusing to answer her question. “No, no, no, we’re done,” she declared. When a male American reporter chimed in, demanding to hear answers to Kelner’s questions, the former House of Representatives member doubled down. She insisted that she would only answer the question from an American journalist.
However, Greene didn’t, in fact, answer the question about the “complete disregard of operational security.” Instead, she deflected, blaming former president Joe Biden for ripping the borders open. Rep. Green then showered praises on the Trump administration, saying they are “doing a great job.” Concluding the conference, she told the reporter:
“My comment to you is I’m thankful to President Trump that he is leading us out of wars.”
She then walked out of the room, putting her hand in the face of the UK reporter. As expected, the viral interview on C-Span has since made rounds on the Internet, and citizens are bewildered.
“MTG and the entire MAGA Congress are the very worst that our country has to offer,” one fan slammed.
“Pretty sure they blame Biden for Trump’s 1st divorce,” this citizen mocked while another added, “Oh my god. STILL on the Biden s**t??? When will the excuses end…”
“An embarrassment to the United States like the rest of the administration,” another remark read.
“‘Why don’t you go back to your country?!?!?’ This should be an immediate removal from office,” a third comment read. “We have US representatives trying to bully reporters with some nationalist nonsense.”
The freedom of the press in the United States continues to descend into deplorable lows, and it is quite a shameful thing.
