A Georgia teacher called out those who called her “a woke teacher” after they watched a “cute little silly video” of hers and were unhappy about what hung on the wall. Why were they mad? The maps on the wall still read The Gulf of Mexico. Her TikTok video has over 566,000 views, over 62,000 likes, and over 2,500 comments.
She claims that she received messages telling her, “You need to get out of the classroom. You’re indoctrinating these kids.” In the video, she points to where the maps had the Gulf of Mexico and alleges this caused a problem for some people. The Georgia teacher wants them to know: “I’m not in here trying to indoctrinate your kids with maps.” She states that she is “way too old” for that. However, she has no intention of updating her maps, which came from Amazon. After searching for a world map and a USA map, what’s on the wall is what was sent to her.
Additionally, the Georgia teacher says if those people don’t leave her alone, “I’m going to go find a picture of Pluto, yes I will, and I’m going to stick it right there.” In the video, she points at the wall next to an image of Neptune. Furthermore, the teacher adds that she’ll also tell them that there are four oceans and not one of them is the Southern Ocean. She states, “Leave me alone ya’ll, or I’m gonna get unraveled in here.” The teacher ends the video by saying, “Unless ya’ll want to fully fund my classroom, leave my maps and my solar system stuff alone.”

Her video has several people pleased to see the outdated maps. One person says, “I live along the Gulf of Mexico, and I will forever call it that. And Pluto is a planet.” Another states, “The Gulf of Mexico is the only thing I’m happy dead naming.” However, many point out that the change only happened in America. One explains, “In the majority of the rest of the world, it’s still the Gulf of Mexico on our maps.”
Meanwhile, her fellow teachers add how they’d like to ‘indoctrinate’ their students. One states, “I want to indoctrinate my students to bring a pencil to class.” Another says, “Gonna indoctrinate my pre-k class to cover their noses when they sneeze.” Overall, many find her video humorous and some even praise her as a teacher: “I pray my child ends up with a teacher like you.”
The Georgia teacher has yet to put Pluto on her wall, but the maps are still there. In fact, she posted a follow up video with the maps, breaking down the different oceans.
