Just let the girl sing!

No matter how good the vibe is, there’s always a “Karen” lurking somewhere, ready to rain on your parade and show up out of nowhere the moment you start having fun. With that in mind, a Georgia woman was simply out enjoying herself at a bar when a Karen decided to spoil the moment and harass her. She was happily singing along to a song about Texas when the woman interrupted to question whether she was actually from Texas. Footage of the awkward encounter is now circulating online.

The video takes place in a bar, and is recorded from the perspective of the Georgia woman who’s busy enjoying herself and singing along to the Ella Langley hit song Choosin’ Texas. As she happily sings along to the lyrics “She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way–“, a rude Karen interrupts her off camera, asking, “Are you from Texas?” Immediately, the Georgia lady bursts into awkward laughter and admits, “I’m not from Texas.”

Undeterred, the Karen continues pressing her, “Why are you singing it, then?” Unfazed, the Georgia woman replies logically with, “Because that’s what the song says. You don’t hear it?” This doesn’t placate the Karen, however, who replies with, “Yeah, I do. But don’t sing that you’re from Texas, if you’re not from [expletive] Texas.” For a few moments, the Georgia woman is left totally speechless by the Karen’s rude and bizarre statement.

“Baby, are you okay?” she utters, gobsmacked. “But don’t say that.” responds the Karen sternly. The Georgia woman attempts to point out the lack of logic to the Karen’s statement, saying, “Then if I can’t sing it, why is it a song? Yeah, that’s kind of crazy. That’s like me rapping about whatever happens like gang violence and I’m not in a gang. Like, you know, like, what music do you like to listen to? Obviously, nothing that pertains to your life, huh?“

Outmatched by the Georgia woman’s logical reasoning, the Karen simply replies somewhat menacingly with, “Just be careful.” To this, she replies with, “You just got mad at me for singing a country song because I’m not from Texas. Why does it matter to you? Mind your business.“

With the footage making the rounds online right now, social media comments came pouring in. On Reddit, one user wrote, “This girl handled her so perfectly cool. I’m in awe” while another chipped in with, “She’s gatekeeping Texas? What an insufferable twat. I would’ve sat there and bashed Texas with everything that I could’ve come up with just to piss her off.” Meanwhile, over on TikTok, one netizen penned, “The way I woulda sang LOUDER 😂😂😂” while another added, “Baby are you okay sent me 😭”.
