A lot of developers have been sharing their own pieces of the spotlight during PAX/EGX Online these past few days. For example, Gearbox showcased that Borderlands 3 will be getting next-gen releases with enhanced features. Some indie developers are taking a piece of that spotlight too. One such developer is One More Level, a studio based out of Cracow, Poland. Their upcoming game Ghostrunner is one of the most anticipated cyberpunk projects out there, and soon players shall get their hands on it. Ghostrunner releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 27! There will also be a new demo available starting September 29. You can find the new trailer, shown at PAX Online, below.
Ghostrunner follows the story of the final ghostrunner, a group of highly skilled warriors enhanced with cybernetic body parts. The human race is near extinction, with the last humans living amonst Dharma Tower. This last remnant of civilization is ruled by Mara the Keymaster, a less than ideal dictator who makes the residents of the tower miserable. As this mechanical assassin, it’s up to you to ascend the tower and put a stop to Mara. Without you, humanity will likely push past the brink of extinction. Will you be able to stop her?
With Ghostrunner releasing next month, the team is having a pre-order sale! If you purchase before the release date, you can get the game at 20% off on PC and PS4, with the Xbox One version being 10% off. It’s strange that the deals are different, but it’s still nice if you’re already hooked. With what I played from the demo, I can easily say I am. The fluidity of combat, intriguing setting, and interesting characters already caught my attention. I’ll be following the ghostrunner’s adventure without a doubt.
I’d like to hear your thoughts on the news though. Do you think Ghostrunner will be an enjoyable first-person hack and slash title? Any other cyberpunk games you’re excited about? Let me know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
