Gigi Hadid and her family are said to have been “forced” to change phone numbers as they step up security following the model’s recent Israel-Palestine statement. Gigi, 28, has made headlines this week for taking to Instagram with a comment now viewed by some as antisemitic. Now, the sister to Bella Hadid is said to be receiving family death threats as she also makes headlines for the Israeli government responding to her post.
Gigi and Bella Hadid are half-Dutch, half-Palestinian.
Gigi Hadid’s Statement Amid Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Taking to her Stories, Gigi reshared a post from @consent.wizardry, one reading: “There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas.”
Firing back, the official Instagram of the State of Israel accused the catwalk queen of turning a blind eye to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. “There is nothing valiant about Hamas’ massacre of Israelis. Condeming Hamas for what it is (ISIS) is not anti-Palestine and supporting Israelis in their fight against barbaric terrorists is the right thing to do,” the reply read. Gigi has been front-page news ever since.
‘Forced’ To Change Phone Numbers
TMZ now reports that Gigi and her family are being subject to death threats as fans continue to react to her message and the response from the Israeli government.
The outlet reports that the Hadid clan has “people hitting them up with horrific sentiments … including graphic descriptions of how they would carry out the Hadids’ executions.” Meanwhile, supermodel sister Bella Hadid has remained silent on the matter, however both siblings have previously voiced support for the Palestinian people.
In the wider celebrity space, support for Israel has come in from Israeli actress Gal Gadot, mogul Kylie Jenner, and comedian Sarah Silverman. It is, however, worthy to note that on October 10, Gigi took to social media to slam the killing of “innocent people,” also stating: “While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person.”
