There are just some things in life you shouldn’t do, and catfishing another person is one of them. That especially goes for if you know they’ve made the trip to your country after talking about meeting up. Well, the internet has watched as one TikToker faces the consequences in front of millions of viewers after telling someone she met that she’s Sophie Rain.
TikTok user babycharlotte1, known as Char, posted what ended up becoming the first in a series of videos about how she catfished a man who flew from America to the UK to see her. In her video, she’s standing in the airport, talking about how she can see the gentleman, but he doesn’t see her because, well, she had told him she looks like Sophie Rain, an adult film star who looks nothing like her.
Personally, I think she could have gotten away with saying she looks like Sabrina Carpenter, but she explains that she had originally thought he was catfishing her. So, of course, the only logical thing she could do is do the same to him and see if he’s telling the truth when he arrives. Now, Char is asking the internet what she should do.
More users flock to her comments to express their opinions and follow along with what’s going on. In Char’s follow-up video, she talks about how this experience has taught her not always to see the bad in people since she had initially thought it was him catfishing her. However, she doesn’t really take accountability for tricking someone into flying to a different country. She even shows a few text messages between the two of them where he asks if she’s going to be coming before deciding to head to his hotel alone.
The best comment of all has to be from Sopie Rain herself,
It looks like things turn out just fine for Char, because she ends up meeting the man and discovering that he’s rich. Maybe her initial reflection of the situation is the story’s moral: don’t always see the bad in others, and don’t pretend you’re Sophie Rain.
