Gizelle Bryant Used Gay Slur On Podcast
On the Monday episode of Reasonably Shady, the anchor was talking to a co-host about a Fox Nation Documentary. The documentary discussed Jussie Smollett‘s hate crime hoax.
In the process of narrating the documentary, she unintentionally used a homophobic slur. However, it seems netizens are not having it as the choice of words has stirred mixed reactions online.
The Real Housewives of Potomac star said, “What he did was that he staged a hate crime, in case you guys have forgotten. So, they were supposed to put a noose around his neck. They were supposed to call him F-got or something….gay empire boy or something.”
As she explained, her words seemed to catch her co-star and best friend, Dixon by surprise and she reacted to it by letting out a long sigh. After Bryant noticed her best friend’s reaction to her choice of words, she caught herself and tried to rectify it. She said “They were supposed to scream that, those were the words that Jussie gave the trainers to do.
Per Page Six, the five-episode documentary which was released on the 13th of March 2023 discussed the 2019 alleged attack on the Empire actor. He claimed that he was physically assaulted by two people who called him racial and gay slurs.
However, it was discovered a month later by a police investigation that Smollett paid two brothers to stage the assault. After a series of investigations, the actor was found guilty of five counts of felony disorderly conduct for making four false police reports.
Bryant’s Choice Of Words Stirred Mixed Reactions From Netizens
While some fans argued that her usage of a gay slur pertained to the story she was narrating, others were outraged at why she said it so casually. “What a disgusting woman” one user responded to the clip on Twitter. Another reacted “Woaw, wtf.”
“Not her pretending to think twice before saying that word when she probably uses the word regularly. A true actress.” Another user commented. The TV personality has not replied to the backlash on social media nor did her representative reply to Page Six’s request for comment.
