2025 Golden Globe host Nikki Glaser feels the heat after she made a bold move during her hosting duties. The Hollywood celebrities in the audience and viewers at home were left in shock after the Glaser pushed the comedy envelope, taking aim at the disgraced music mogul Sean Diddy Combs.
Nikki Glaser faces serious backlash on social media after her attempt to make fun of Sean Diddy Combs left a noticeable and uncomfortable vibe. The polite crowd of celebrities shifted in their seats and attempted an awkward laugh during the opening monologue.
Glaser attempted the Diddy jabs, stating, “Zendaya’s 2024 film, Challengers, Glaser joked: “That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card.” Nikki’s Diddy jabs didn’t stop there. Glaser added, “I know, Stanley Tucci ‘Freak-Off’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”
While the on-camera crowd was left with no choice but to faintly applaud, the viewers at home did otherwise. Social media platforms such as X are flooded with comments from offended viewers blasting Nikki Glaser’s poor judgment.
Nikki Glaser was chosen to replace last year’s Golden Globes host Jo Koy. He was replaced after facing significant backlash during his opening monologue in 2024.
Many viewers and the celebrity crowd did not appreciate the comedian’s style of humor. During the Awards, Koy made the situation much worse by addressing the “tough room” he was playing to.
Viewers Flood Social Media Slamming Nikki Glaser’s Inappropriate Diddy Jokes
Radar Online reports that, going into the hosting duties, Nikki Glaser was aware that jokes were off-limits. Glaser revealed she was staying away from the recent scandal and celebrity feud between It Ends With Us stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, decided to avoid the Golden Globe Awards event this year. Sources close to the celebrity couple allege that the couple decided to skip the Golden Globes before the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni scandal began. However, many fans are not buying it.
Glaser stated, “I think the Blake Lively–Justin Baldoni thing is such a hot-button thing right now that even a mere mention of it will seem like I could be on the wrong side of things, even though I would never be.”
Nikki’s decison to take a swipe at Sean Diddy Combs also appears to have been a huge mistake. “Why do we make Diddy jokes on public television? He raped women and children. Why is that funny?” questions one X user.
“Uhhhh, the Diddy jokes at the Golden Globes are so inappropriate. Sexual assault is not funny ever. Nikki Glaser won’t be back,” a third chimes in.
As previously reported, Sean Diddy Combs is currently incarcerated at Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center on racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. Combs denies all wrongdoing and will remain behind bars until his trial begins in May.
